Brigham Historic Park – Things to do in Salt Lake City

Mormons in early Salt Lake City pioneered advancements in irrigation that forever impacted the settlement of the West. Utah had six million acres of land under irrigation by 1902. The U.S. government Reclamation Act started an irrigation program based on the Mormon experience. This picture features Brigham Historic Park, just east of Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City; statues remember the Mormon pioneers and their efforts to irrigate in the desert.
