Utah Capitol Building Tour – Things to do in Salt Lake City

A stroll through the interior of the Utah State Capitol Building needs to be included on your list of fun things to do in Salt Lake City. Featuring exquisite Georgia marble, the Rotunda is the site of public and private events such as graduation ceremonies and high school proms. Architect Richard Kletting used arching skylights in the atrium vaults to allow for natural light to show off the magnificent interior. The interior dome is 165 feet from the floor. A 95-foot chain holds a 6,000 pound chandelier. The interior of the dome features a painting of seagulls in the sky. The circular cyclorama depicts various scenes from Utah’s history. This is simply a stunning sight that is not to be missed. The capitol building is open seven days a week. Join us on the Salt Lake City Tour or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Tour to hear interesting facts and stories that you won’t find on your own.
