Union Pacific Depot - Things to do in Salt Lake City

The Union Pacific Depot is a striking monument to the importance of the railroads in the settling of the West. It was built in 1909 at a cost of $300,000; the exterior conveys a distinctive French Second Empire tone, with its slate-shingle mansard roof. The interior features Western-theme murals and stained-glass windows that create a rich setting of colors and textures. No longer a railroad depot, today it functions as a reception venue and as a grand entrance to the Gateway Mall.
