Salt Lake City Union Pacific Depot, originally called Union Station, was built in 1909 for $450,000. This grand depot reminds us of the prosperous era of railroad travel in America. Made of beautiful sandstone with a copper roof, the architectural style is French Second Empire, with a Grand Hall that includes stained glass windows and a terazzo floor. Old Salt Lake City Hall was built in the 1860s out of red sandstone from nearby Red Butte Canyon.
